There is nothing fancy about this request. Charli XCX asks fans to be kind when it comes to Taylor Swift following the “Boom Clap” singer’s sold-out Partygirl DJ set on Friday (June 21) at Club Zig in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
After seeing online that attendees at the show were chanting “Taylor is dead,” the Grammy nominee told her fans that such behavior is not acceptable. “Can the people doing this please stop. online or on my shows,” he wrote on an Instagram Story Sunday (June 23) following a message informing her of the “toxic behavior” of some people at her events. “It's the opposite of what I want and it bothers me that anyone would think there's a place for that in this community.”
And he concluded, “I will not tolerate it.”
The songs come after Swift released UK-only versions of her latest album, Department of Tormented Poetswith exclusive tracks on June 13, just days after Charli's last set, Bratarrived on June 7th. Fans theorized online that the pop superstar's move was to block Brat from reaching No. 1. Taylor Nation tweeted that the new, limited UK edition TTPD was to celebrate the 14-time Grammy winner's Eras tour arriving in the UK for a run of shows.
Charli is also engaged to George Daniel, who is the drummer for The 1975. They announced their engagement at the end of November. And on June 11, frontman Matty Healy – who was romantically linked to Swift shortly before she began her romance with NFL star Travis Kelce – announced that he was engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, who is mentioned in the first few seconds of his BratThe main house track, “360.”
The “Speed Driver” singer is currently touring in support of her new album. The trek will hit North America with a September 14 show at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena, before hitting New York's Madison Square Garden for a sold-out show later this month, Nashville in October, and more before the end of leg at Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena Oct. 23. He concludes with four shows currently scheduled in the UK for late November to early December.
