Charli XCX does a complete “360” in an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live, where the pop superstar will be both host and musical guest.
On Thursday (Oct. 31) the long-running comedy show was announced the host and musical guests for the next two episodes. After John Mulaney and Chappell Roan campaigned on Saturday (November 2), comedian Bill Burr is set to return to the show with musical guest Mk.Gee the week after the election (November 9). Next weekend (November 16), the Brat The hitmaker will host and appear on the late night comedy show.
It will be a nice change of pace for Charli. Although she has served as the musical guest twice in the past, this will mark the first time the singer will host the evening. But that certainly didn't stop the show from referring to Charli, especially in the Brat time. Cast member Bowen Yang dressed in full Charli drag for the season premiere, performing a skit featuring her version of the pop star. Talk Talk Show.
Even Charli herself was impressed by the sketch. Speaking to Howard Stern, the singer said she thought Young did a “fantastic job” portraying her. “Think SNL it's iconic… we had an idea it was coming so we were very excited about it,” he said at the time. “I love Bowen…I was really impressed with the texture of the hair, actually. I thought it was a really good wig. It was good, it was cool.”
News of Charli's upcoming show comes on the heels of co-headlining the Sweat tour with Troye Sivan. In a recent interview with Bulletin boardthe singer's creative team revealed the struggles and triumphs of making the exciting shows possible. “Turning an arena into a club was the No. 1 challenge, and when the arena was literally shaking, I was like, 'OK, success,'” said creative director Imogene Strauss.
