The rising country singer performs “My First Rodeo,” “I Got Time” and “If You Say So” for CBS Saturday morning
Up and coming country singer Brittney Spencer performed songs from her debut album 2023 My stupid life on CBS Saturday morningthe last Saturday sessions.
For the show, the Baltimore-born singer delivered “My First Rodeo,” “I Got Time” and “If You Say So” from the must-hear LP released earlier this month.
“Spencer traverses a mix of muscular pop-rock, textured soul and anthemic singalong pop, all grounded in a genre-agnostic country reminiscent of Maren Morris' landmark album Hero,” Rolling Stone she told him My stupid life.
“Spencer assembled an ace team to showcase her versatile voice and bold writing, including producer Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour). The result is a record unfettered by the need to constantly prove its bona fides to Nashville, and in doing so ends up being one of the most compelling country statements in a while.”
In 2023, Spencer spoke Rolling rock for our Future 25 list about her journey from Baltimore to Nashville, with her viral rendition of Highwomen's “Crowded Table” leading to a friendship with Maren Morris, opening slots for Reba McEntire, Bruce Springsteen and Brett Eldredge and an appearance at Jason Isbell's Georgia Blue album covers.
“My first entry points into this industry were with people who made me feel really safe,” Spencer said. “Highwomen are family to me. Jason Isbell made me feel safe. Going on tour with Brett Eldredge and Reba, they were so kind and so welcoming and so they just made me feel like I could be myself on stage and off.”
