Cher has an unlikely favorite artist these days as she showed love to one of the West Coast rap legends.
Although the singer and 2Pac never had the chance to work together, he loved his music after friend Alexander “AE” Edwards put it on the “California Love” rapper.
Cher joined The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday (May 1), where she crowned 2Pac as her audience these days.
“2Pac,” she said when asked about her favorite artist. “[My boyfriend] Alexander started playing me 2Pac.” The depth of Pac's artistry struck Cher, along with how powerful his songwriting was. “I was so amazed by the depth of the words,” she added.
Being nearly four decades younger than the 77-year-old ageless wonder, Edwards — who is Tyga's music executive and affiliate — brought a fresh perspective to Cher, even though 2Pac was fatally shot 27 years ago.
Elsewhere in her conversation with Jennifer Hudson, Cher explained why she prefers a more youthful taste in men.
“I'm really shy when I'm not working and kind of shy around guys,” she said. “And the reason I go out with young men is because men my age or older – well, they're all dead now – but before ever, they were always terrified to approach me and the younger ones were the only ones who did. ”
Cher tied the knot with AE in 2022 and they went public with their relationship in November 2022 when the “Believe” singer posted a photo of the couple on social media.
“On paper, it's kind of ridiculous,” the singer told Kelly Clarkson on her show about the relationship with Edwards. “But in real life we get along great. Is wonderful. And I don't give men qualities they don't deserve.”
