The ACM Awards secretly held a big surprise: Not only are they Chris Stapleton plays, but will be with him as well Dua Lipa in the tent. Additionally, the pair are planning to release a collaboration together, according to sources on-site at the awards at the Ford Theater at the Star in Frisco, Texas.
Sources say the collaboration will officially drop on Friday (May 17), the day after the ACMs. Reps for Lipa and Stapleton did not immediately respond Advertising signhis request for comment.
The news certainly comes as a surprise, given that the artist's new album “Levitating”. Radical Optimism just dropped a few weeks ago with no country influences to speak of. It recently debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, where Stapleton's album Higher debuted at No. 3 in November.
Stapleton is up for a slew of awards at this year's ceremony — hosted by Reba McEntire and produced by Dick Clark Productions — including Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, album of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the year.
Both stars are set to headline October's Austin City Limits music festival, which will also see performances from Carin León, Reneé Rapp, Foster The People, Kehlani, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, CAAMP, Dominic Fike, The Marías, Jungle, Dom Dolla, Chappell Roan, Porter Robinson, Fletcher and others.
