Chris Stapleton and Dua Lipa pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the night at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday night when they paired up to perform a collaborative version of “Think I'm in Love With You.” from Stapleton's 2023 album Higher.
On Monday (May 20), they officially released the performance, titled “Think I'm In Love With You (with Dua Lipa) (Live From the 59th ACM Awards),” now available on all streaming platforms.
Talking to you Advertising sign on ACM night, Dua Lipa said that “just being a huge fan of his” led her to reach out to Stapleton about a collaboration. “He's a master of his craft, and I've been a fan of his for so long, and I had the opportunity to sit down and brainstorm ideas about how we can reimagine the song for tonight and bring something really special and unique… it's one of those moments in my life where I'm so happy to be a musician and create something and do something that's so exciting.”
To Entertainment TonightStapleton added that talks about a collaboration had been going on for some time, but they got together to rehearse for the show just days before the awards show.
“I think it got into the mix,” Stapleton said in the report. “We got on the phone and talked about it and worked on it a little bit. We really put together what we did two days ago… It was a bit of a whirlwind – but it was awesome.”
