Chris Young has thanked fans for their support following his recent ordeal, and as a show of appreciation, the country star will release a new song on Friday.
Young was initially arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer in January after an incident with a Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent at a Nashville bar. However, after surveillance video showed Young was not the aggressor in the fight, the charges were quickly dismissed.
“I'm still processing a lot through the false accusations and everything that happened last week. But I wanted to say, first and foremost, thank you to everyone who helped me,” Young said in his video statement Thursday.
“It meant the world to me and I've had so many friends and fans reach out and say, 'We got you, we don't think you did any of that.' So it's really nice to see the charges dropped. It's not something I wish anyone to ever go through. But, like I said, the bright spot was seeing all the love and support.”
Young's new album, Young Love & Saturday Nightsexpected to be released on March 22. So far, he's only shared the album's title track, which interpolates the guitar riff from David Bowie's 1974 rock hit “Rebel Rebel.”
“So what I wanted to do as a thank you to you guys – because this wasn't planned – is put a new song off the album so you'll have something to listen to,” Young continued.
“Well, we're going to release 'Double Down' at midnight, and I really hope you enjoy it. Upload it, enjoy it again, I appreciate you, I love you and thank you.”
