Ciara is set to be the opening act at the 2024 ESPYS, which will air live on the East Coast on ABC on Thursday (July 11) at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The Grammy-winning R&B singer is married to a superstar athlete – NFL quarterback Russell Wilson.
Ciara and Serena Williams, host of this year's ESPYS, did a social collaboration on Instagram to announce Ciara's participation. The ESPYS, presented by Capital One, will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Ciara has scored eight top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Goodies” (featuring Petey Pablo), which spent seven weeks at No. 1 in 2004. She has scored four top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, including Ciara: The Evolutionwhich debuted at No. 1 in 2006.
Flau'Jae Johnson, rapper and NCAA college basketball player at Louisiana State University, is also set to appear on the show.
Lil Wayne and HER performed at last year's ESPYS.
GloRilla is set to perform at this year's show, along with actors and comedians such as Quinta Brunson, Nikki Glaser, Rob Lowe, Colman Domingo, Daisy Ridley and Brian Tyree Henry and many top athletes.
As previously announced, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex will be awarded the Pat Tillman Award for service. Former NFL safety Steve Gleason will receive the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage. and University of South Carolina head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley will be honored with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance.
The ESPYS are co-produced by ESPN and Full Day Productions. The ESPYS help raise awareness and funds for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, the charity founded by ESPN and the late basketball coach Jim Valvano at the first ESPYS in 1993. ESPN has helped raise more than $200 million for the V Foundation through the last 30 years.
