Coldplay surprised fans in Munich with a special guest during the band's concert at the Olympiastadion on Thursday (August 15), bringing out Sean Mendes for a special performance of 'Fix You'.
In fan-posted clips from the show, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin plays the piano while blending his voice with that of the “Stitches” singer. “Sing it out loud!” Mendes tells the crowd before diving into the ballad's emotional lyrics: “Tears roll down your face / I promise you I'll learn from my mistakes.”
Towards the end, Martin gave his duet partner a chance to sing the final lines of his 2005 solo hit. “The lights will lead you home / And burn your bones,” Mendes softly sang as fans in the stadium they waved bracelets with lights in the air. “And I'll try to fix you.”
The surprise performance comes about a week after Mendes released two new singles — “Why Why Why” and “Isn't That Enough” — ahead of his new album Sean. Arriving on October 18, the LP marks his fifth studio album and follows the 2020s Wonder and of 2018 Sean Mendesboth topped the Billboard 200.
Coldplay also have a new album on the way — Music of the Moonwhich is expected to be released on October 4. The band revealed their tracklist a day after performing with Mendes, posting a video on Martin's Instagram writing—or drawing, in the case it's just a rainbow emoji—song titles on a small sheet of paper.
Overall, Music of the Moon consists of 10 tracks: “Moon Music”, “feelslikeimfallinginlove”, “We Pray” feat. Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna & TINI, “Jupiter”, “Good Feelings” with Ayra Starr, “🌈”, “iAAM”, “Aeterna”, “All My Love” and “One World”.
