It's a circus out there! Corey Feldman has released a colorful '80s-inspired music video for his latest single, “The Joke,” and Advertising sign premieres the visual directed by Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst.
“'The Joke' is more than a song – it's a statement. For years, I have faced criticism from those who want to undermine my dedication to music. This single is my way of reclaiming the narrative and showing that my commitment to my craft is unwavering,” says Feldman. Advertising sign. “Fred and I have a long history of working together. We originally recorded “Seamless” as a feature in 2016 on mine Angelic 2 The Core album, which will be re-released digitally over the July 4th weekend. We wrote and co-produced this song, but working with Fred Durst as director on the music video was an incredible experience. He had a clear idea in mind and I handed him the creative, and even though it wasn't how I saw it, his version surprised me and made me laugh. I can't wait for my fans to see the energy and vision we've brought to life.”
The video opens with the actor-singer on stage jumping around to circus music, his dancers and band behind him, all dressed in the decade's brightest dolls. The tune then takes a chilling turn as Feldman laughs like a maniac before the band – complete with headbands and hair inspired by Robert Smith and Alice Cooper – starts jamming.
The video slows down during the bridge, when The lost boys The actor rips open the jacket of his colorful jumpsuit to reveal it Goonies T-shirt below, paying homage to Steven Spielberg's 1985 directorial classic, in which she starred as she sings, “Maybe there are times, I second guess myself/ Does the pain outweigh the riches?/ Maybe it's time to crawl back into my shell, think goodbye?/ So…”
A familiar “hee hee!” can be heard as the former child star covers his eyes and then re-emerges dressed as his late friend Michael Jackson. “Let's give them hell!” Feldman sings as he busts out some King of Pop moves.
The Limp Bizkit frontman makes a cameo at the end, clapping as the video ends, and Feldman — still dressed as Jackson — joins him on set. “Fantastic!” the rocker praises, but the actor has some concerns about the video they just shot.
“Listen, I love that you're directing it. I think it will be amazing. everything looks great,” Feldman begins before gesturing to Michael Jackson's sequined outfit. “I really don't know about the whole thing, though.”
The rocker allays his fears by saying, “Brother, look at me. It doesn't show in the video.” Guess “The Joke” is on Feldman!
Before the video premiered on Billboard.com, the singer-actor performed the song on Howie Mandel does things podcast and spoke with the host about his music and influences. “I grew up learning from Michael. I learned from Michael” shared. “So a lot of the things that I design musically … it has to have that same drive, it has to have that thing that makes me dance, that makes me want to move so that it comes alive when I perform it.”
