BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Sounds have announced a new eight-part series called Courtney Love's Women. The audio program will find the Hole singer speaking about the women who have influenced her while also reflecting on various aspects of her life and career.
Love will be joined by podcaster Rob Harvilla throughout the series. According to a press release, the Hole frontwoman will take “listeners on an intimate, unfiltered, era-by-era journey through her life and the music that shaped her.”
Among the various events from her life that Love will touch on are the time she recited Sylvia Plath poetry for a Mickey Mouse Club audition; her struggles with drug abuse; her role in The people against Larry Flynt; an attempt to play matchmaker with Stevie Nicks and Billy Corgan; hanging out at the Playboy Mansion with Debbie Harry during Limp Bizkit's album release party; her relationship with Kurt Cobain; and more.
“Courtney Love is an icon and a pioneer – her influence on music and culture over the decades is undeniable,” said Samantha Moy, director of BBC Radio 6 Music. “At 6 Music, we invite artists to share their stories directly with their fans and our listeners and I'm so proud to have Courtney hosting a series of incredible shows for us in April.”
He added: “Halfway through the series, on Friday, April 12, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of Courtney's most powerful works: Hole's Live through this — dedicating the show to her music, the music that influenced her and the artists she inspired in 'Courtney Love Forever.'”
Episodes 1-4 Courtney Love's Women will be available on BBC Sounds from April 8 and will be broadcast on BBC 6 Music from April 8 to 11. Episodes 5 to 8 will be available on BBC Sounds from April 15 and will be broadcast on BBC 6 Music from April 15 to 18. BBC Sounds is available in most countries wherever you get your apps.
