Creed launched their “Summer of '99” North American reunion tour at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Wednesday night (July 17), marking the start of the band's first outing in 12 years (Tickets available here).
Singer Scott Stapp and company performed a 16-song set featuring many tracks from their Diamond-certified 1999 album. Human clayincluding songs like “Are You Ready?”, “What If” and the main set-closing double whammy of smash hits “With Arms Wide Open” and “Higher” (No. 1 on Consequence(The New York Times' recent list of the 50 best post-grunge songs).
The set began with “Bullets,” one of four songs played from the 2001 album. Worn by timeincluding the encore of “One Last Breath” and the show-closing number “My Sacrifice.” Meanwhile, the band’s 1997 debut, My own prisonwas also well represented with four songs, including the title track and “What's This Live For.”
The opening show featured support from Switchfoot and Finger Eleven. Switchfoot will be on board for the first few shows, after which 3 Doors Down will serve as direct support for most of the summer concert dates.
Creed will follow up the summer tour with a fall North American tour with 3 Doors Down and Mammoth WVH, which will keep them on the road through early December.
Earlier this year, Creed played their first shows in over a decade aboard a pair of “Summer of '99” cruise ships. The band has already announced that the The cruise will return in April 2025.
