We can always count on DJ Susan's Hood Politics label to showcase the best emerging talent out there. This week's spotlight is on two immensely talented artists, CRMBS and SCHEINY, teaming up for a huge slew of releases this week, first delivering their version of “from Outkast.”The way you move“and then a sizzling original”Buddy.”
Transforming the Outkast classic 'I Like the Way You Move', CRMBS and SCHEINY bring an infectious beat, a shuffling bassline and breakbeat elements to create a melodic, vocal-driven hit. Similarly, 'Sidechick' boldly reimagines the Pointer Sisters' 'Betcha Got a Chick on the Side', infusing a percussive bass house vibe with a relentless bassline, punchy beats and modernized vocals, bringing a modern feel to a classic.
CRMBS shares that, “Spenser and I met in 2017 in the Bahamas while we were on “Holy Ship.” Since then, we've become closer friends, regularly sending each other music for input, inspiration, and just a “what do you think of this?” As a DJ, we both started focusing on music production over the last year or two, so it was natural for us to collaborate on some music together. Our tastes lean heavily toward driving club tracks, so when we sat down to do something together, the first qualification was that the tracks were “club friendly” and ready to do some damage on the dance floor. What we got was not one but two tracks, both with their own sense of identity, but both ready to get some bodies moving.”
In addition to each of these releases, SCHEINY & CRMBS will be hosting an exciting b2b, offering direct support for tech house queen Wenzday at Chicago's Sound Bar on December 9th. Tickets are available here.
