CupcakKe‘s crude, witty, and extra-explicit lyrics are back. On Monday, the rap star released the music video for “Grilling N—-s II,” as she celebrated the release of Dauntless Manifesto, her first album in over six years.
The video opens with CupcakKe dressed as a dominatrix (whip and all) in a surgery room before cutting off a man’s phallus and later grilling it like a glizzy at a pool party. CupcakKe drops bars — referencing Mariah Carey, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, and influencer Keith Lee — by the pool while dressed in all-pink.
“Just took a bitch n—a, man, shout out trans rights/His dick a diamond tester, let him beat it up like Ike,” she raps, referencing Tina and Ike Turner. “‘Cause, bitch, I cannot bruise when I’m wearin’ all this ice.”
And she also takes aim at Elon Musk’s interwebs with the line: “I ain’t claiming no exes, I still be calling shit Twitter.”
“Grilling N—-s II” serves as a follow-up to the rap star’s 2019 standalone single of the same name. The song is featured on her genre-jumping album Dauntless Manifesto, CupcakKe’s first album release since 2018’s Eden and Ephorize, which dropped on Friday.
“This album speaks on Police Brutality, Body positivity, Racism, Poverty, Suicide, Self Love,” CupcakKe wrote on X. “I love that I was able to create this classic while still remaining me, and being able to deliver such fun/explicit content as well.”
“It ranges from hip hop, pop, hyper pop, Afro pop, rock,” she added. “I thank you all for all the love it’s received so far and hopefully you all can enjoy the artistry in this.”
The LP includes the Trisha Paytas-referencing funk track “Yawn,” the self-reflective “Rock Paper Scissors,” the hyperpop track “Aura,” and “Dui,” which she tweeted Justin Timberlake “can stream too” after he was detained for driving under the influence. (“Don’t drink and drive/I look drunk because he came on my eye,” she raps on the campy track.)
Back in March, CupcakKe marked her return to social media in March after two years, sharing that she had taken the time off to “sharpen my craft” and to “actually study the ropes of music.” Remixes of popular music laced with Cupcakke’s sexually explicit lyrics.
She told People in 2021 that she was “happy to be alive” after surviving a suicide attempt in 2019. “It takes a lot for someone who was suicidal to say they’re f—ing happy to be alive,” she said at the time. “I’m blessed. Every day I wake up, happy to be here.”
“The devil is very busy in my life,” she added. “He has always been busy, but I’ll always come out on top.”
