Cyndi Lauper was a special guest at Nicki Minaj's homecoming show in Brooklyn last night.
The two New Yorkers performed Minaj's song. pink friday 2 song “Pink Friday Girls,” which samples Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” Minaj is a Lauper super fan, and after the performance of “Pink Friday Girls,” Minaj became emotional. She bowed to the singer while she stood center stage and told the audience, “I've been talking about this woman in my interviews since I started rapping.” She went on to say, “Never in a million years did I think she would rap in New York with Cyndi Lauper again.”
She then told the audience that she remembers “crying” at Lauper's “True Colors,” which Lauper later sang a snippet of with Minaj. They hugged and Minaj reverently told the crowd, “God bless you. Nicki Minaj is currently wrapping up the North American leg of her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour,” which concludes after a trio of dates in Texas on May 9, 11 and 12.
