It's no secret that Dame Dash has been strapped for cash for a while now, and while he's not broke, the man certainly isn't out of control like he was during Roc-A-Fella's heyday.
With the court forcing him to sell his 33.3% stake in Roc-A-Fella Records to satisfy his outstanding debt, Dame Dash decided to take the time to explain to everyone why he was tight with the cash. Yesterday, Dame took to Instagram to let everyone know how she got to this point, and the truth is, it's pretty understandable. No, he didn't blow all his dough on fancy cars, swings, or more jewelry, but he did blow a decent amount on his dreams.
On his IG Live, Dame explained that his pockets started to thin out when he started “investing” in ventures he wanted to see come to fruition. While he didn't specify what kind of investments he made, it's obvious at this point that they just didn't work out or give him a return on his investment.
“Someone asked me how I became so broken. Um, investing in my dreams. You know, when you invest in your dreams and dream big, you're always going to be broke. You're gonna get a lot of sh*t but I ain't got no money for nobody else if that's what you call broke. This is it. Either way, I'll go with you. Stay tuned. I'm curious to see how it all turns out.”
Call us crazy, but we really hope things work out for Dame.
The post comes a day after Dame Dash took to Instagram to offer an OG frozen Roc-A-Fella chain to the first person to put down $10 million for their stake in the iconic record label. With a judge ordering Dame to pay director Josh Webber $800,000, Dame must part ways with the company he, Jay-Z and Kareem Burke founded in 1994.
While many would jump at the chance to buy his stake in the company, Jay-Z let everyone know that the crown jewel of Roc-A-Fella Records' catalog, Reasonable doubtit will eventually be paid back in just seven years, in 2031. With the initial bid for Dame's stake in the label starting at $1.2 million, one will be willing to put much more than that into the label knowing that her biggest asset will disappear matter of years? I guess we'll find out.
