Darius Rucker was arrested on misdemeanour drugs charges on Thursday.
The Hootie & the Blowfish singer was taken into custody in Williamson County, Tennessee on Thursday and booked on three misdemeanour charges.
According to TMZ, the country singer was charged with two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance. He also received a third charge for violating Tennessee’s vehicle registration law, for reportedly having expired tags on his vehicle.
Rucker, 57, was brought into jail around 10am and released around an hour later. His bond was set at $10,500 (£8,200).
Following the incident, Rucker’s attorney, Mark Puryear, told multiple outlets, “Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges.”
Hours after the news broke, Rucker’s ex-girlfriend, comedian Kate Quigley, wrote on X/Twitter, “Yes. I’ve heard. All I can say is Karma.”
She later posted a bikini selfie and added, “Mood when u hear your d-bag ex got arrested. #Karma.”
Quigley, who dated Rucker for less than a year in 2020, previously called out the Wagon Wheel singer online in 2021 after he told reporters she was “doing great” when she was hospitalised following an accidental overdose. Three of her friends died after taking the fentanyl-laced cocaine at a house party.
“Hi Darius, Could u plz refrain from making public comments about my health or well-being since u haven’t called once to see how i’m doing & have no clue?” she wrote to her ex in September 2021. “Thanks Boo Boo!!!”
