After announcing on Wednesday (January 31) that the next artist at Las Vegas' Sphere would be Dead & Company, the Grateful Dead spin-off band revealed the dates for their six-week summer run on Thursday (February 1). Dubbed Dead Forever, the shows will consist of 18 shows over six consecutive weeks from May 16 to June 22.
The concerts will run Thursday-Saturday and, according to a release, “feature never-before-seen visual storytelling from Dead & Company, providing fans with the ultimate musical connection through these innovative and immersive shows.” Of course, the band known for their psychedelic musical wanderings will be playing a unique setlist during each weekend's concerts at the state-of-the-art 20,000-capacity venue which has rocked crowds during U2's opening set with eye-popping LED screen graphics featuring highest resolution in the world. U2's U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere began in September and is expected to end on March 2.
Dead & Company — which includes Grateful Dead founding member guitarist/vocalist Bob Weir and longtime drummer/percussionist Mickey Hart, as well as John Mayer, Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge — formed in 2015. Co-founder drummer Bill Kreutzmann was originally part of the band as well, but left in 2023, before the band embarked on what it called its “final tour” last summer.
Phish is slated to enter after U2 and before jam progenitors Dead & Company for an April 18-21 run.
