In October 2004, amid Dublin's thriving music scene, Declan O'Rourke's debut album From Kyabram was released. In its first week, From Kyabram it entered the charts at number 5 and over the next two years achieved gold, platinum and two-time platinum status.
The album contained a collection of songs that have gained popularity over the years. Galileo, Sarah, No Place To Hide, We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea and Marrying The Sea are among the titles that led to award nominations and plaudits from Paul Weller, Eddi Reader, Paul Brady and Snow Patrol.
Voted hot press From Kyabram his Debut Album of the year and its release undoubtedly launched a career that introduced Declan to an audience who have been on this journey with him for 20 years.
“Given that Kyabram is an album that I am very proud of, both as an introductory work and as a collection of songs individually. After 20 years, I still feel very nostalgic about it and I love that it has become a favorite of so many others.
Celebrating and freeing Kyabram again, this time with a deeper dive into the tapes, will be quite the journey. Being completely immersed in music once again during just a handful of special 20th anniversary concerts will also be very exciting!
