Twisted Sister concluded a farewell tour in late 2016 with no intention of hitting the road again. But with major offers coming in, frontman Dee Snider and company appear to be changing course.
In a new interview with Hook Rocks! podcast, Snider offered an update on the status of the band, which reunited for a one-off performance in 2023 for Twisted Sister's induction into the Metal Hall of Fame. At the time, Snider was somewhat adamant about only getting together for special occasions… but money might influence him and his bandmates in other ways.
“As a result of all the gangs folding and dying, the offers are getting bigger and bigger for holdouts to come back,” Snider explained (transcribed by Talkative). “At some point, you have to say, 'Well, how can I say no to that?'”
On a full-blown reunion tour, Dee continued: “Is it here yet? No. Is it getting closer? Yes. Do we talk among ourselves like, 'Well, in case the numbers do get there, and they sure seem to be going in that direction, how are we going to do this? So there is a little bit of that conversation.”
Conversations within the band have increased regarding both the financial implications of a reunion and the physical and logistical aspects of going on tour and returning to the stage.
“And that's a recent thing, that the conversation has gone from 'never' to 'in case they make an offer we can't refuse, what's the plan?'” Snider added. “And there is a very general discussion about that, involving personal trainers, diets, hair extensions. And that's the first time in eight years that the conversation has changed.”
Perhaps most importantly, Dee said the relationship between the band members remains friendly: “By the way, we're all friends. The survivors, we all talk, we are all friends and we love each other. And that was one of the best things that came out of getting back together the first time: we managed to mend fences and be friends and that, to me, is really why I wanted to do it in the first place, to come back. [together] last time… So anyway, we’ll see what happens.”
