Def Leppard have announced an expanded 40th anniversary reissue of their seminal 1983 album. Pyromaniaarriving on April 26.
The legendary British band is pulling out all the stops for the reissue campaign, digging through the archives for demos, outtakes, rough mixes and unreleased live recordings.
The 4-CD/Blu-Ray and 2-LP editions will include the remastered original album as well as these archival recordings, including a rare rough mix of “Photograph” with an unfinished vocal track and a previously “lost” demo of “No, You Can’t Do That”: An Outtake and “Track 11” of the Pyromania sessions.
“Rediscovering dusty old cassettes that were brilliantly restored by [executive producer] Ronan [McHugh] and finding the lost and unfinished 'eleventh track' was a journey that only few of us are lucky enough to take,” said singer Joe Elliot in a press release. “What trip!”
The 4-CD box set also includes two era-specific concert recordings: December 18, 1983 (live in Dortmund, Germany) and September 11, 1983 (live at the LA Forum). Meanwhile, the Blu-Ray includes promotional music videos, a Dolby Atmos mix (overseen by Giles Martin), as well as instrumental and 5.1 stereo mixes. An accompanying book contains a history of the album written by rock writer Paul Elliott, including new interviews with the band, plus rare and unpublished photographs by Ross Halfin.
For hi-fi lovers, Pyromania is also receiving its first half-speed vinyl mastering. This unique LP edition was recorded at Abbey Road and only includes the original album.
