DeMar DeRozan addressed his controversial 'Not Like Us' cameo. During an interview with Sean Cunningham of Sacramento's Fox affiliate, the Sacramento Kings rookie opened up about how he ended up with Kendrick Lamar's video and whether or not the Kings are allowed to play Drake at home in Golden 1 Center.
“We love Drake, we can always play him,” said the former Toronto Raptor. “Kedrick was my friend, family. D–n close to family, for a long time, for a while. We are from the same city, we grew up near the same neighborhood. … It was always there. It wasn't always publicized, but, you know, this is basically a family thing.''
Kendrick name-dropped DeRozan in the second verse of his massive Drake diss song “Not Like Us,” rapping, “I'm glad DeRoz came home, you didn't even deserve him,” referencing the six-time All-Star from Toronto Raptors to San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard in 2018.
Not only did DeMar make a cameo in the song's video when it was mentioned, he was also in attendance at Kendrick's Pop Out concert on June 19 and was one of the first people to hit the stage to dance to the song while K. Dot performed it.
DeMar played his first nine NBA seasons with the league's only Canadian team and appeared in June 2016 cover Hit magazine alongside Drake and then teammate Kyle Lowry when he was a member of the Toronto Raptors.
