Deshaun Watson was hit with another lawsuit last month accusing the NFL quarterback of sexual assault and battery, but the case appears to be behind Watson. In a new report, the plaintiff's attorney says the lawsuit has been settled.
ESPN shared a report on Monday (Oct. 7) that the lawsuit filed against Deshaun Watson has been dropped with the attorney issuing a statement to the network.
“We have now resolved our client's claim with Deshaun Watson,” Tony Buzbee, the plaintiff's attorney, told ESPN Monday night on behalf of the woman. “The settlement is confidential.”
In a separate statement, Rusty Hardin, Watson's attorney, also confirmed that the case has been settled.
In the lawsuit filed near the top of September in Harris County, Texas, the plaintiff claimed that in October 2020 she and Watson were going to have dinner at her apartment. Hardin issued a statement on behalf of his client denying any wrongdoing took place while he had dinner with the woman.
The NFL reportedly reviewed the complaint under its personal political conduct guidelines, but Watson was spared being added to the commissioner's exempt list because he was not formally charged. NFL officials have decided not to release further details.
Deshaun Watson was a member of the Houston Texans in 2020 and currently plays for the Cleveland Browns.
