The upcoming prequel series Dexter: Original Sin has set its premiere date on Paramount+ with Showtime and has revealed a new teaser trailer.
The 10-episode drama series will premiere streaming and on-demand on Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on December 13 before making its U.S. on-air debut on Sunday, December 15.
Narrated by the original Right Starring Michael C. Hall, the brief trailer offers glimpses of Patrick Gibson as young Dexter Morgan and Christian Slater as his adoptive father, homicide detective Harry Morgan, as well as guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar as Miami Metropolitan Police Department CSI boss Tanya Martin.

Set in Miami in 1991, Dexter: Original Sin The plot revolves around Dexter’s transformation from student to vengeful serial killer. “When his bloodthirsty impulses can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” reads the official synopsis. “With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without appearing on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter, who begins a forensic internship with the Miami Metropolitan Police Department.”
Original Right Showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips returns to the same role for Original sinwith Michael Lehmann (Heathers) as director and executive producer. Other cast members include Molly Brown as Dexter’s sister Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt. Hall will lend his voice to young Dexter’s interior monologue throughout the show.
Hall is also set to star in a new series called Dexter: Resurrectionscheduled for release in summer 2025.
