DJ Akademiks is facing a new lawsuit accusing him of rape, sexual assault and defamation.
The lawsuit was filed by Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe, who was dating the Internet personality (real name Livingston Allen) after meeting him online in 2021. Abashe claims that on July 16, 2022, Allen contacted her and invited her to home in New Jersey, not suspecting “bad intentions,” even though they hadn't seen each other in nearly a year.
When Abashe arrived, however, she encountered two men (identified as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2), whom she did not expect to be there. Abashe claims the two men spiked her drink and spiked her with alcohol before attacking and raping her on Allen's pool deck.
Abashe says the drugs “affected her memory and caused her to lose consciousness,” according to the lawsuit. She claims she was later awoken at around 4am (July 17, 2022) in a bedroom by Allen, who “pulled her hair, spread her legs and brutally raped her,” she claims. Abashe accuses Allen of anally and vaginally penetrating her and says she was “begging” him to stop and was “crying for most of this assault, but she lost her ability to physically move.”
The next day, according to the lawsuit, Abashe asked Allen for details about what happened the night before. He allegedly showed her a trash can containing two condom wrappers, which suggested to Abashe that, after the alleged attack on the pool deck, the two John Does “had taken her to another room in the house and proceeded to brutally rape her.” Abashe also claimed that Allen showed surveillance video of the alleged attack on the pool deck.
“According to Ms. Abashe, as she watched the video, it looked like she was lying there lifeless, which did not sit well with her,” the suit states.
According to text messages included in the lawsuit, later that day, on July 17, Allen told Abbase to “look into it” and said he would do the same. Abashe said she found the statement “strange,” and the lawsuit claims the text was evidence that Allen, “who had not slept with Ms. Abashe in over a year, had unprotected sex” with her that night. (Allen did not respond to a request for comment for this article.)
After contacting her lawyer for advice, Abashe went to the police. Authorities first told her to visit a hospital for a rape kit, which she did. The kit supposedly led to the discovery of traces of Allen's sperm, he claims. Abashe then spoke to authorities in person and photographs were taken of bruises on Abashe's arm, back, buttocks and legs.
Abashe also participated in a “recorded phone call” with Allen in which, she claimed, Allen “graphically narrated[ed] and admit[ed] to have sexual intercourse' with her, 'even to describe her vagina'.
That led officers to obtain a warrant for the surveillance footage and other evidence. Abashe later claimed that Allen “threw several items (sheets, etc.) into the trash can near his desk. Apparently, Mr. Allen was trying to destroy the evidence of Ms. Abashe's rape.
Despite taking her allegations to police, Abashe “chose to remain silent,” according to the lawsuit, and apparently decided not to press charges. Her decision to sue comes after the allegations were revealed in late 2023 after both she and Allen addressed the incident on social media.
Allen denied attacking Abbas and, in a Video December 30, 2023, claimed she was sleeping at home while the two John Does allegedly attacked her on the pool deck. Acknowledging the surveillance footage of the alleged attack, Allen said: “She was being trained by my two men on my pool deck.” The lawsuit alleges that Allen “defamed” Abbase by “accusing her of voluntarily having an orgy with his friends at his home, while maintaining that she never participated.”
The lawsuit goes on to allege that Allen knew his statements in the video were “misleading and false, as he was in possession of text messages from Ms. Abashe in which she stated that she did not know what happened to her on July 16, 2022. , and that it was Mr. Allen who informed her of the events of the night.'
In a statement, Abashe said: “I am confident that justice will prevail and the veil will be lifted so that no other woman will have to endure what I did.”
Her lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, added: “Litigation is always a last resort. After several unsuccessful attempts to privately resolve this case, Ms. Abashe had no choice but to testify. Mr. Allen's hubris will be his downfall.”
