Dolly Parton celebrates her birthday on Friday, January 19 with a new deluxe edition of her November album. Rock star that includes new tracks.
“It's my birthday, so I'm going to give you a gift!” our November cover star wrote on Twitter. “I'm releasing four never-before-released songs for my birthday, to accompany the Rock star album, and a few others that you may have heard before that weren't on the album. I hope you enjoy them and I hope you all have a happy birthday to me. HA HA HA.”
Rock star it primarily comprised Parton's renditions of rock classics like “Magic Man,” “Purple Rain,” “Stairway to Heaven,” and many more, plus a who's who of guest features. The deluxe edition of Rock star continue the fun with the originals “Mama Never Said” and a live version of “Rockin' It,” plus “Stay Out of My Bedroom” with Sylvester Stallone, taken from the 1984 film's soundtrack. Additional bonus tracks include Parton's covers of Pat Benatar's “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” Eddie Money's “Two Tickets to Paradise,” Simon & Garfunkel's “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” Billy Joel's “The Entertainer,” and “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics.
