The Blond Don meets Don Omar!
Rolling rock can exclusively announce that Don Omar will bring Machine Gun Kelly to the stage during a special performance of “Danza Kuduro” at Thursday's Premio Lo Nuestro.
“Seeing my song go viral in MGK's voice blew my mind,” says Don Omar. Rolling rock in a statement. “It's incredible to see how music can transcend generations, genres and languages.”
The performance will be part of a medley of hits from the reggaeton legend as he receives the Global Icon award at the Univision awards show. Joining him on stage will be Brazilian star Anitta and Puerto Rican duo Wisin y Yandel.
The MGK-Don Omar moment comes several months after Machine Gun Kelly went viral for his cover of Omar's collaboration with Lucenzo during a music festival in Spain. He later performed the song again in Mexico.
“I was out dancing in Spain the night before my show at the festival and Danza Kaduro came on, it was the first moment of the night where everyone sang a song word for word and got lost in the vibe,” says MGK. Rolling rock. “I woke up the next day and wanted to sing that and recreate that moment for the first time in Spain.”
“This song brings people together,” he adds.
After sharing the cover on Instagram last year, MGK received a co-sign from Don Omar himself, who wrote, “🤟🏾🔥.”
Along with the hit medley with MGK, Omar is set to perform his recent single “Sandunga” with Wisin y Yandel.

Machine Gun Kelly spoke Power 106 The Cruz Show about working on his Spanish accent in 2016, saying that he and Camila Cabello were “speaking Spanish” together after collaborating on their song “Bad Things.” “My Spanish is getting better. I'm more motivated now,” he had said then.
Don Omar is a three-time winner of Lo Nuestro. He won the Urban Artist of the Year trophy in 2005, along with awards for Best Latin Music Video in 2007 for “Angelito” and Urban Song of the Year for “Taboo” in 2012.
Premio Lo Nuestro is set to air live on Univision on February 22 from Miami's Kaseya Center at 7 p.m. ET. Pepe Aguilar, Grupo Frontera, Chayanne, Maluma, Natti Natasha and Camilo are also expected.
