Over the weekend, J. Cole made news not only for releasing a new diss record aimed at Kendrick Lamar, but he ended up apologizing to K. Dot as Cole regretted even going that route.
Naturally, fans were divided on Cole's words, with some understanding Cole's stance on his rap peer, while others were upset that the It may be deleted later The artist would trick everyone into a much-anticipated rap battle. All the while Kendrick's other target, Drake, remained mum on a response to K. Dot's shots on “Like That.” However, she reacted to J. Cole's shocking apology.
According TMZ, the King of the North isn't planning to drop out of the upcoming rap battle like his “First Person Shooter” collaborator. Apparently, DJ Akademiks spoke to Drizzy about J. Cole's decision to walk away from his Kendrick Lamar beef, and after pulling Cole a new one about his “7 Minute Drill” apology, Akademiks says he warned Drake to don't follow his example.
Per TMZ:
Ak lost sleep on his Rumble stream leading up to Cole's apology, but said in his chat that he had a long conversation with Drake that scoffed at the idea of apologizing to Kendrick.
Ak says Drake literally laughed at him when they warned him not to apologize like Coleand shared a disbelieving message… “I can't believe you would say that to me.”
Well, fans were wondering if Drake would respond with a new record as he wasted no time clapping back at Meek Mill in 2017 with “Back To Back,” but avoided responding to Pusha T's scathing “Story of Adidon” in 2018. So you never really know with drake.
As each week passes since Future and Kendrick Lamar called him out on “Like That,” it seems more unlikely that Drizzy will step into the booth and applaud his rap rivals.
But if DJ Akademiks is to be believed, is Drake putting something in the room and can he drop it late… or early? We'll see.
