On Tuesday (April 30), Kendrick Lamar had social media collectively clutching their pearls, dropping the killing game with Drake diss record 'Euphoria' and all eyes on Canadian actor-turned-rapper Drizzy quickly responded to the song but in the most powerful way for 2024.
Instead of releasing a response file (which everyone wants), Drake took to his Instagram stories to share a clip from the popular '90s film 10 things i hate about you in which Julia Stiles checked off a list of things she hated about someone she loved in the movie. Obvious reference to Kendrick's spitting bars “I hate the way you walk, the way you talk, I hate the way you dress/ I hate the way you sneak, if I get to fly, it'll be instant” the clip did nothing to excite Hip-Hoppers who are eagerly waiting to see what Drake is cooking up in the kitchen as the beef continues to heat up.
While this wasn't the response fans were expecting from Drake (he's clearly trying to laugh so he doesn't cry), rest assured he will indeed be clapping at some point as he sent a quick message to his man DJ Akademiks saying “Look you soon.” While some speculated that Drake had a joint in the booth ready to pop whenever K. Dot responded to “Push Ups” or “Taylor Made Freestyle,” Drizzy was seen humming along to “Euphoria” before returning to the booth for to address Kendrick's many criticisms from him.
Drizzy really did his thing with this one. We know one thing for sure and that's that Drake definitely won't be using an AI version of Tupac on another song, as he doesn't want any legal smoke with the Shakur estate who has shown he's not interested in having the hip-hop legend involved in any new rap songs beyond the grave.
The ball is now in Drizzy's court. One can only wonder how he plans to top Kendrick Lamar's “Euphoria” and if that's even possible at this point.
