A security guard is badly injured in a shooting that occurred outside of Drake’s Toronto mansion, CBC reports.
According to the report, the attack happened in a drive-by fashion around 2:10 a.m. this morning. Rolling Stone confirms the victim was a security guard from Drake’s home, which is a short walk from the general location that Toronto police provided to CBC. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper chest and was brought to the emergency room, where he underwent surgery. Per Rolling Stone, paramedics said his injuries were not life-threatening — Drake, meanwhile, was unharmed.
In addition to heavy police presence in the area surrounding Drake’s mansion and a taped-off entrance to the rest of the neighborhood, CBC notes that Drake has shared images of his home online, and that his address likely wasn’t a mystery to these assailants.
The attack comes in the midst of a significant feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which has escalated in the last week. Lamar even referenced Drake’s Toronto home in the cover art for “Not Like Us,” which uses a satellite image of the mansion with marks used to delineate registered sex offenders. Drake responded to “Not Like Us” — which alleged that the rapper has had sexual relations with underage girls — with “The Heart Part 6.” When dropping it on Twitter, Drake wrote, “And we know you’re dropping 6 mins after so instead of posting my address you have a lot to address.”
