Here's the thing: Drew Carey really, really enjoyed seeing Phish at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Like, so much so that he can't, and won't, stop ranting about the show that opened his brain and spilled it all over the Strip. But now he's tripling down, saying the Vermont jam band's show made his $2 billion debut look like a pike.
His latest outburst came during an appearance this week on SiriusXM's Phish Radio, during which Carey delved further into his life-changing experience. “I was like a simple U2 fan,” Mr The price is right The host said about the rock icons who opened the venue with their shows for 2023-2024. “My friend is very into it. He went, “hey, let's go see U2 at the Sphere,” and I thought, “yeah, at the Sphere, I've always wanted to see the Sphere. Might as well. I went [and] it blew my mind how great it was and I told all my friends and talked to them The price is right audience how wonderful it was.”
He loved it so much that he went the next two weekends in a row, even flying some of his friends from Cleveland to have the exSphere-ience before the band wraps up its 40-show run in March.
“And then, like three songs into Thursday night with Phish at the Sphere, I was honestly like crazy,” Carey said. “I wanted to call U2 and get my money back… This is what they did [U2] you honestly look like a bar band.” Now, don't get me wrong Carey said U2 put on a “great show” but he felt Phish “took full advantage of the sound and video in that place.”
As you may have heard, Carey raves about the molecule-rearrangement experience he had at Phish shows. First, he tweeted that the show made him feel: “I swear I just talked to god I'd give you all my money, put my dk in a blender and swear off py for the rest of my life in exchange for this. Brother, I really met God tonight. I feel like Jesus just saved me, no lie.”
Like any good Phishead, he took his show on the road, appearing on Taylor Tomlinson's show After midnight the next day, where he absolutely shocked his fellow comedians on the panel, and Tomlinson, with his reaction to bananas. “So I saw Phish at the Sphere this weekend. I never saw Phish, I didn't know a Phish tune, and they blew my mind so hard… I had a bunch of girls with me and I thought that's what it is…,” Carey said, as censors flagged what appeared to be a sexually suggestive description .
Phish being Phish, they loved Carey's enthusiasm and sent him the perfect gift: A Vitamix blender (see above). Singer Trey Anastasio even signed it, writing: “Thanks Drew! See you next time, happy mixing!”
