Your eyes are not deceiving you: Dua Lipa is indeed dropping her next single soon, though it's titled “Illusion.”
The pop star shared the news in a post via X on Thursday (April 4), sharing a photo of the project's artwork – which shows her resplendent in a white bikini and shawl – as well as a teaser video. In the clip, she wears the same outfit as she dances to a snippet of the pulsating, dance-ready track.
“I could do this dance all night long,” he sings in a sneak peek. “Oh, what are you doing? I don't know who you think you're confusing.”
“APRIL 11TH FLASH ~ ARE YOU READY?” Dua captioned it with three water drop emojis.
When it drops, “Illusion” will be the third single the British artist will drop ahead of her upcoming third studio album Radical Optimism, after “Houdini” and “Training Season”. The former debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the latter entered at No. 27.
Dua first announced Radical Optimism in March, sharing both its cover and tracklist. “Illusion” is the seventh title of the May 3rd album, between “French Exit” and “Falling Forever”.
A day before her latest news, Dua posted a reel of behind-the-scenes footage from her time working on the album, including bits and pieces of upcoming music. “It's the beauty of chaos and trying to stay calm through it,” he said in a voiceover in the video. “To listen over and over and feel like, 'How do I want to tell this story?'
“I always pick the most upbeat ones to introduce people to the record,” he added. “I can just keep dancing and making people dance. “We're trying to create a world in a different way, and sonically we were going to experiment. Thematically, it's always been about resilience.”
