Here's the thing: when you're a pop star, you can do things most mortals never get to do. And when you're a pop star player, you get to do some of those things in a giant stadium while relaxing before your show. At least Ed Sheeran.
The singer posted a video to Instagram on Sunday in which he's casually sitting cross-legged in applesauce on the floor of a stadium playing, of course, Pokémon Stadium on his Switch while rhapsodizing about being a rock star. “If I wasn't a musician, I'd be a virgin,” Sheeran, 33, says with a smile as he mashes buttons while his game plays on the stadium's massive LED screen.
The responses were hilarious.
“Harry said the same thing,” one fan wrote, referring to a similar comment from Harry Styles in 2020, while others offered quips such as: “you'd get along with my brother,” “That's a HUGE flex.” “Why are you running double on ivysaur”, “this is the dream for every kid who grew up in the 90s”, “If I have to choose between pokemon court and sex, I guess that's the end of the bloodline for me” and “HAHAHA THAT ME.”
When he's not playing games, Sheeran is on his Math World tour, which will hit the Hipodrom in Zagreb, Croatia on August 10 before heading to Frequency festival at Greenpark St. Polten in Austria on August 14th. Sheeran will remain on the road through a September 19 concert at Rock in Rio in Brazil before taking some time off before returning to the arena in May 2025 with a show in Madrid, Spain.
