Ed Sheeran is going away for a while. said the 'Galway Girl' singer. People magazine this week that he has no plans to release new music this year. That doesn't mean he won't be hitting the studio to record new songs, just that he doesn't plan to share them for now.
In fact, he doesn't even want to talk about them, so when asked what he might say about his new music, he joked, “That I'm working on them and they're new songs.” The point is, you'll hear them when he's ready.
“But nothing is going to come out this year,” Sheeran, 33, added. “I love being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it's too much to be on tour and release records. So, I made the new music and I'm going to sit on it for a while.” That might upset his Sheerios, but Sheeran seems confident that his two biggest new fans dig his music, that's all that matters.
Ed said his daughters Lyra Antarctica, 3, and Jupiter, 2, love his songs. “Yes, of course, of course. Mostly my new songs because I don't really play my old songs at home,” he said. “I feel like it would be really weird to just put my discography up, so they mostly know the new songs I'm working on because I play them quite a bit.”
Sheeran deserves a break after releasing the latest album in his math series, – (Less)last May, as well Autumn Variations, In September. He's still on the road, too, with a show tonight (May 3) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, followed by a just-announced show on May 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as part of his 10th anniversary celebration X album.
