Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder gave a heartwarming Christmas surprise to some young musicians in Kailua, Oahu.
According to a recent Facebook post From Coconut Grove music teacher Harry Koizumi, Vedder stopped by the store looking for the experience of a long-term teacher, to which Koizumi happily accepted. “He asked me if he could help him choose some electric guitars that would be good for younger musicians,” Koizumi wrote. “Then he bought 3 guitars and asked me if he had 3 younger students who might need them and help them get inspired.”
Koizumi called the three mothers of the students he had selected to receive the guitars and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the three mothers were already Vedder fans. She asked them to play Vedder's music throughout the house to prepare the students for the surprise.
After receiving the surprise guitars, Koizumi asked his students to write thank-you notes to Vedder. Koizumi said Vedder then returned to Coconut Grove Music to deliver his personal notes to each student. “What a beautiful blessing and wonderful experience to participate as Santa's Helper!” Koizumi wrote.
As for his fans, Vedder will be giving them new music in the near future. A new Pearl Jam album is on the horizon, as band member Stone Gossard shared. Consequence this summer.
