Two years after his first entry into the Advertising signOn the Latin Airplay chart, Eladio Carrión lands his first No. 1 as “TQMQA” climbs 4-1 to lead the April 13-dated list.
Carrión crosses a new milestone with the dembow-pop tune — the title of which stands for “Te Quiero Más Que Ayer” (which translates to “I love you more than yesterday”) — as it tops the overall Latin radio chart. “TQMQA” lands at the summit seven weeks after earning the Latin rapper his maiden champ on any Advertising sign chart (it hit No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay in March).
“The intention behind 'TQMQA' was to give my parents the recognition they deserve,” says Carrión Advertising sign. “It's an honor for me that the track went to No. 1, but when I make music, I never think about what numbers or awards I'll get. My main intention is always to be authentic to myself and share that with my fans. Everything else that comes after that is just a bonus for which I am extremely grateful. It never gets old.”
“TQMQA” moves into the lead with a 26% increase in audience impressions, to 9.5 million, earned in the U.S. during the March 29-April 4 viewing week, according to Luminate.
“TQMQA” is the first track from Carrión's fifth studio album, Sol Maria (released through Rimas Entertainment). The 17-track set, an ode to his mother, debuted at Nos. 6 and 3, respectively, on the Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums (ranked Feb. 3).
“When I first told my parents about the idea of 'TQMQA,' they were surprised by how personal the song and the video were,” shares Carrión. “But it was special for us because we collected all these old clips from our home movies to make this time capsule of my upbringing. It's exciting to see how far we've come and how he's been there for me every step of the way. But neither of us was prepared for how many people the song would resonate with.”
Carrión breaks the No. 1 Latin Airplay barrier as a solo artist for his fourth attempt. It also tops his first and only top 10: “Nunca y Pico” featuring Yandel and Maluma, which took the Puerto Rican-American to No. 6 in November 2022.
Carrión has been on Latin Airplay twice more: “Alejarme De Ti” with Jay Wheeler (No. 22 in March 2022) and “Coco Chanel” with Bad Bunny (No. 42 in June 2023).
Thanks to his solo No. 1, Carrión joins four other artists who achieved the feat alone in 2024. Here's the list of No. 1 winners so far this year:
Peak Date, Title, Artist, Weeks at No.1
- 27 Jan 2024, “Monaco,” Bad Bunny, one
- February 10, 2024, “La Diabla”, Xavi, two
- 24 Feb 2024, 'La Falda', Myke Towers, one
- March 30, 2024, “Baccarat”, Ozuna, one
- 13 Apr 2024, “TQMQA”, Eladio Carrión
Elsewhere, “TQMQA” rebounds to its No. 1 high on Latin Pop Airplay for its third week at the helm (up 2-1). Additionally, thanks to its radio gain, it re-enters No. 44 on the multimetric Hot Latin Songs chart, which combines airplay, digital sales and streaming data.
