Buffalo emcee and singer Elcamino follows up on his Black Soprano Family Records debut They spit on Jesus with his 15th EP. Growing in 2017 from his self-titled EP with Griselda Records, his profile has been growing ever since following from Walking on water mixtape in the summer of 2018 along with 2 studio albums and a few EPs next year. They spit on Jesus it was the first Camino project I had covered since then On Day 3 and so much No weapon was formed against me it was an improvement over some of the material we've gotten from him in recent years. Fast forward 5 months later, the Real Bad Man is being recruited throughout The Game is the Game
“Give Them Hope (Curtis)” is a piano-driven opener, saying he was more of a student for Ghost constantly taking notes, while the almost jazzy “Chest Wrestlers” talks about having no time for fake aggressive coke snorers . “Champagne Pisses” featuring General B$F himself Benny the Butcher works those strings, kicks and snares asking if anyone's afraid of not making it to the finish line just before “Fashion Week” featuring King Ralph finds the 2 brothers showing off their big ones. mafia status.
Meanwhile, “New Levels” talks about being far from a rogue with all the sacrifices he's taken over some vibraphones leading into “C'mon Nephew” goes into soulful territory to write an open letter to his nephew forgiving him for some bullshit he pulled a while back. “No Fighting” with Boldy James is an instrumental/boom-bop crossover that likens themselves to scramblers, but then “Expensive Cloth” brings in a flashier flash of those who want to be more of a target.
Rick Hyde joins Elcamino for penultimate track “Melrose” pushing close to his encore The Game is the Game Discussing their lifts over pianos, kicks and snares until “Sllick Talk” with Player K finishes the EP jumping over self-proclaimed shooter synths trying to score as well as telling you we need to see you both live now.
If you liked it They spit on Jesus as i did 6 months ago, you will probably like it The Game is the Game almost as much if not more than the LP that officially introduced Elcamino to the B$F roster. Real Bad Man continues to further establish himself as one of the underground's most sought after producers, the guest list is just as tight and Camino is just capturing what it's like out here.
