Eminem is getting ready for… something. Detroit's Don continued to tease his next phase on Monday (May 20) in a cryptic post that suggested new music is just around the corner. The X post featured what looked like a text box dated midnight May 31 with a disappearing message that read: “… and for my last trick!”
There was no other information in the post, other than an emoji image with a profile picture of a rabbit wearing a hat and the suggestion that the message was sent to “all contacts”. No additional information was available at press time about what the message was about.
And while Stans was excited, they were also confused, posting comments like “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ?????”, “please don't be a surprise. Just make the single and promote the man and then do a rollout” and “It better NOT be your last!!!!!” Backdating the post to next Friday led to fan speculation that some new music could drop next Friday (May 31).
Last month, Eminem announced plans for The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)which teases as an obituary for his longtime alter ego, along with a fake Slim obituary released on Detroit Free Press. The LP will be his 12th studio album and 2020's follow-up Music to be murdered bywhich debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Em his 10th consecutive chart topper.
Fans looked over the obit and noticed what they thought was a clue lurking in the eulogy, speculating that the odd punctuation in the subtitle – “Fans 'Will Never Forget' Controversial Rapper”, might be a preview of one of the titles songs of the project.
While he waits, Eminem had something to really celebrate over the weekend when his 28-year-old daughter Hailie Jade married longtime boyfriend Evan McClintock. TMZ posted a photo of the sweet daddy-daughter dance between Em and Hailie, with Slim Shady wearing a black tuxedo and matching sunglasses at the outdoor ceremony.
