A minute-long video brings to life a “little devil” line in “Houdini.”
With The Death of Slim Shady the birth of a demon child arrives. On Monday, Eminem announced that he will release his upcoming LP on July 12 via a horror-minute trailer.
The video opens with a woman giving birth to a baby. “When I count to three, I need you to push as hard as you can,” the doctor asks. After the baby is born, the woman holds the child in her arms, saying, “You're the little one who keeps kicking me.”
The baby then opens its pitch black eyes before gaining devil horns and pointy demon-like teeth. “Damn it!” the doctor and nurses declare in total. The trailer then cuts to reveal its name and release date The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) in colorful graffiti.
The visual appears to depict the “little baby devil with the forked tongue coming out” lyrics from the LP's single, “Houdini,” which was released in late May.
Eminem announced the album in a virtual documentary inspired trailer for his alter ego's death. “Through his complex and often criticized rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady had no shortage of enemies,” a reporter said in the clip. He then posted a fake obituary on Detroit Free Press.
“His complicated and tortured existence has come to an end, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world,” the obit read.
Eminem's latest LP, Music to be murdered byarrived in January 2020. Dr. Dre previously he said Jimmy Kimmel, “Eminem is working on his own album, which will be released this year. I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make this announcement right here on this show. So there's an album coming out, I've got songs on it and it's fire.”
