Eminem opened the 2024 MTV VMAs on Wednesday (September 11) with a medley performance of “Houdini” and “Somebody Save Me” from his latest album, The death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
As he walked out on stage, Eminem was flanked by a group of similarly dressed impersonators in blonde wigs and black T-shirts, a call back to her iconic appearance at the 2000 VMAs. After a lively performance of “Houdini,” she switched gears and moved on to the introspective “Somebody Save Me.” Watch the replay below.
The performance marked Eminem's return to the VMAs after joining Snoop Dogg onstage in 2022 to perform their collaboration “D 2 the LBC.” He is nominated for eight VMAs this year, including Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop and Song of the Summer for “Houdini.”
Eminem recently teamed up with LL Cool J for their first collaboration, “Murdergram Deux,” off the latter's first new album in 11 years. The FORCEThe Detroit rapper is gearing up to release a deluxe “Expanded Mourner's Edition” of The Death of Slim Shady This Friday, September 13th.
