“Somebody Save Me” served as a wistful album closer, with Jelly Roll belting out an angelic chorus that heavily samples the “Save Me” hit. The track peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the arrival of “Somebody Save Me,” Jelly Roll got emotional when he put the moment of working with his “childhood hero” into perspective.
“I always say my childhood hero lived somewhere between Willie Nelson and Eminem,” he began in his July 12 Instagram post. “About every word Eminem wrote. I understand him and I felt like he understood me, which was rare because I spent most of my life feeling misunderstood. … So you can imagine how I felt when I got the call that Eminem was going to take my song 'Save Me' on his new album. And for him to use the song to discuss the other side of what could have happened if he let his demons win brought me to tears.”
