Empire of the Sun rises again with a tour in support Ask That Godthe forthcoming fourth album from the electro-pop outfit Down Under.
Fronted by Luke Steele (frontman of indie-rock act The Sleepy Jackson) and Lord Littlemore (Nick Littlemore of electronic trio PNAU), Empire of the Sun will embark on an Australian tour, kicking off October 24 at Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, and a visit to Melbourne, Brisbane and ending November 1 with a show at Red Hill Auditorium in Steele's hometown of Perth.
The national trekking, production tour the borderis the first to be announced for its support Ask That God, the group's first album in eight years. Additional routes have yet to be announced.
Out July 26 (via EMI Australia), Ask That God led by first singles 'Changes' and 'Music On The Radio.' Both are accompanied by sparkling Michael Maxxis-helmed music videos that capture Steele and Littlemore in all their stellar magic. Ask God is the continuation of 2016 Two vineswhich entered the week at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums and featured contributions from Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, Prince's Revolution's Wendy Melvoin and two members of David Bowie Black star band, pianist Henry Hey and bassist Tim Lefebvre.
“Ask That God is an album we sought out and were fortunately blessed with. We are nothing more than conduits, gathering experience and finding what the Empire is meant to find,” Steele explains.
From their groundbreaking debut album from 2008, Walking in a dream, which hosted the title track and “We Are The People”, Empire of the Sun has garnered eight ARIA Awards (including four at the 2009 ceremony), two APRA Music Awards, an APRA Billions Award and 7.6 billion streams, according to with EMI.
“Walking On A Dream” late closed the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016, peaking at No. 65, after a ride in a campaign Honda Civic. The track would become a US chart-topper, reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs, their second chart-topper since 2013's 'Alive' – a song released five years after 'Walking on a Dream'. Empire of the Sun will also head the Billboard + Clio Music Top Commercials chart for consecutive months in the United States, where the single is now certified platinum.
