Higgs analyzes what Bear vs shark says about modern politics, as well as how the tone of the story feels like changing channels on television. It's a technique he has adapted to his own writing. “That's basically how I write a lot of lyrics, I basically change tone in the middle of something,” Higgs says. “Then it will go from trying to sell you something, using all that kind of language, to something very, very personal and distressing.”
