Beyoncé has been in the spotlight for decades, but her renaissance has only just begun with the upcoming release of her new album, ACT II: COWBOY CARTER.
The next chapter in the artist’s RENAISSANCE trilogy, which kicked off in 2023 with an album of the same name, is set to arrive this spring. Beyoncé is leaning into a country sound in this outing, digging into her Texas roots and spotlighting the extensive history of Black artists in the genre by doing so.
We’ll be updating this guide as more information becomes available. For now, here’s what we know about Beyoncé’s 2024 album.
What Is the Title of Beyoncé’s New Album?
On Tuesday (March 12th), Beyoncé revealed on Instagram that the next step in her renaissance will be titled ACT II: COWBOY CARTER. The artwork shows a sash with the album’s title draped over a saddle.
COWBOY CARTER is now available for pre-order in Beyoncé’s online shop, where other variations of the album cover can be found. The box sets, meanwhile, include both a physical CD of the album and a t-shirt. There will be three vinyl versions of the project available.
What Is the Release Date of Beyoncé’s 2024 Album?
ACT II: COWBOY CARTER will arrive later this month on March 29th. After first teasing the project in February and releasing promos during the Super Bowl, Beyoncé announced ACT II alongside the first two singles: “16 CARRIAGES” and “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM.”
When “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” debuted at No. 1, Beyoncé officially became the first Black woman to top the country chart.
What’s On the Tracklist for Beyoncé’s New Album?
While the full tracklist has not yet been revealed for COWBOY CARTER, the first two songs released off the project provided an exciting preview of the sound Beyoncé is leaning into with this album.
The heavy, more personal “16 CARRIAGES” is an excellent showcase of her trademark vocals, while “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” is the warm, upbeat single ready to usher us into spring — and Beyoncé’s next chapter.
If the rest of the album follows the format of “16 CARRIAGES” and “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” it looks like we can also expect songs titled in all-caps, a precedent set on RENAISSANCE, Act I of this ongoing chapter.
Recently, there have also been rumors of Beyoncé either covering or sampling Dolly Parton’s iconic “Jolene.” When speaking to Knox News in Tennessee, Parton revealed, “I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably going to be be on her country album, which I’m very excited about.”
Will Beyoncé Tour in 2024?
While there’s no confirmation yet about whether Beyoncé will keep the Club Renaissance vibes going with another tour, we can keep our fingers crossed. If ACT II: COWBOY CARTER does get the live treatment, it would be her seventh headlining tour.
