Katy Perry and Doechii's “I'm His, He's Mine” tops this week's new music poll featuring artists across genres.
Music fans voted in a poll published on Friday (September 13). Bulletin boardchoosing the duo as their favorite new music release of the past week.
“I'm His, He's Mine” garnered 30% of the votes in the poll, securing a lead ahead of new releases from The Weeknd (“Dancing in the Flames”), Charli XCX featuring Troye Sivan (remix ” Talk Talk” ), Tate McRae (“It's OK I'm OK”), FKA Twigs (“Eusexua”) and others.
Perry and Doechii dropped “I'm His, He's Mine” on Friday, about 24 hours after first teaming up on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards. With a heavy sample of Crystal Waters' beloved 1991 house single “Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless),” the duo finds women marking their respective territories when it comes to their male love interests.
“I'm his queen, I'm his freak/ I'm every woman he wants and needs,” Perry sings in the song's music video as she carries the man's head as they run to the ground, before the camera cuts to Doechii she wears a bikini and dances in an elevator while bringing her own tempting come. “I'm his boss, I'm that b—-/ I'm every woman he knows there is.”
“I'm His, He's Mine” marks the third single Perry has revealed ahead of her new album, 143which is scheduled to be released on September 20. It follows “Woman's World” and “Lifetimes.”
Following Perry and Doechii in this week's poll is The Weeknd's “Dancing in the Flames,” which garnered nearly 24% of the vote. It is the lead single from the superstar's upcoming album, Hurry up tomorrowwhich serves as its third and final installment After Hours and Dawn FM trilogy.
