Joe Budden's interview with Pan-African Avenger Dr. Umar Johnson keeps on being the gift that keeps on giving. Johnson is now under fire for saying something really ridiculous about Vanessa Bryant.
Dr. Umar got the internet talking about his unnecessary encounter with him The Joe Budden Podcast for saying that Eminem isn't Hip-Hop's GOAT and that he pressured Budden's co-host Ish for being in a relationship with a white woman.
As for Johnson, you can always count on him to say some absolutely outrageous nonsense if given enough time to talk, and that was the case when Vanessa Bryant's name came up.
The wife of the late Kobe Bryant has seen nothing but support following the tragic death of her husband and daughter, Gigi, but that hasn't stopped the hater from swirling to find her with some completely unfounded accusations.
In the clip that has gone viral on X, formerly Twitter, Johnson accused Mexican-born Vanessa Bryant of not using her husband's money to help the black community.
Johnson claims she “inherited [Kobe Bryant’s] wealth, and guess what? Is Vanessa Bryant using some of this black man's money to do good in the Black community? Absolutely not.”
When challenged on his claim, he replied: “He's a public figure… I know it, and I'm telling you now. Vanessa Bryant just started an initiative with three predominantly white colleges, a kind of sports initiative with Kobe's money and Kobe's name.
He continued, “I didn't pick a single HBCU [historically Black colleges and universities] with a black man's money.”
Is Dr. Umar right?
Of course, it isn't. Vanessa Bryant and her late husband established the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation in 2007, and one of its missions is to provide scholarships to minority college students and other youth worldwide.
It has since changed to Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation to honor Bryant and his daughter.
The JBP pushed back against Johnson's claims again, adding that there are notable black celebrities who don't pander to the Black community, and predictably, the hot air man had a backlash for it.
“There is a difference and do you know what the difference is? If I marry a white woman, when I die, my wealth goes to the very people who stole everything from my community.”
Yes definitely.
Vanessa Bryant hasn't responded to Johnson's wild claims, but she doesn't have to. Social media does the work for her.
“Vanessa Bryant woke up one morning and never saw her husband and daughter again and is still (apparently) functioning. If this woman puts all of Kobe's money in a fucking tissue and wipes her tears with it every day, she deserves to.” wrote a user X.
Others point to how Johnson has failed to deliver on the school he's been soliciting donations for since 2014.
Well.
