In the eyes of Swifties, nothing is ever an accident. That's why some fans are convinced that Taylor Swift subtly shaded Ye — formerly known as Kanye West — at her latest Eras tour show after the rapper referenced her on his new album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures 2which dropped hours before her performance on Saturday (August 3rd) in Warsaw.
On the track “Lifestyle (Demo),” Lil Wayne name-checks the 14-time Grammy winner and her boyfriend — Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs — on the guest verse. “I twist my twists tight on the Taylor end like Travis Kelce,” he quips.
While Ye himself doesn't mention Swift, his choice to include a nod to her on his second joint LP with Ty Dolla $ign is notable considering the “Donda” artist's previous feud with the pop star. That's why the 'Anti-Hero' musician's wardrobe choice at her first Eras show since the track's release turned heads, with Swift wearing a t-shirt during Red which reads, “I bet you're thinking about me.”
“She's so funny wearing a bet you think about me shirt after Ka*ye name dropped her and Travis in his song was a real comedian,” one person he tweeted.
Although Swift has worn the shirt in previous performances, some fans believe that her choice to wear it at this particular performance at PGE Narodowy was intentional. “Saw k*nye a while ago and knew she was going to wear it lmao,” Swift herself tweeted, to which another fan replied, “Makes so much sense now.”
Swift's tumultuous relationship with Ye is one of the most historic music industry controversies of the past decade. It all started when she interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs to declare that Beyoncé deserved more awards for Best Female Video, after which they finally patched it up — that is, until she bragged that the incident launched Swift's career on track in 2016. Famous.”
When Swift hit Ye about the song, she claimed she got the “Karma” singer's blessing in a phone call before its release, which she denied. After that, his then-wife Kim Kardashian released an edited recording of their conversation to portray Swift as a liar, something the latter only spoke out about last year.
“You have a completely fabricated frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, that Kim Kardashian edited and then released to tell everyone I was a liar,” he said. YEAR on her Person of the Year cover in December. “That took me psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to take phone calls. I pushed away most of the people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down very, very hard.”
