Fear not, Billie Eilish fans — the pop star's next record is close to completion. Eilish's brother and right-hand man producer Finneas spoke to Mr. Porter in an interview on Tuesday (December 19) and revealed that his sister's next album is 85% finished.
While the percentage offers a definite update for fans, Finneas noted that the process of making the album was not easy. “I don't think Billie was particularly sure how she really felt about the things we were trying to write about,” he explained. “Making something that you feel really connected to – it can really elude you.”
Finneas, who often works with Eilish on songwriting, further shared that mapping out time between his busy writing schedule was difficult as he performed 88 concerts in one year: “I think I got a little dark. And that was scary. It was discouraging to realize that if I take time off, my songwriting atrophies. I had to get back in shape.”
Eilish's latest album, Happier than ever, arrived in 2021 — the set, which marked her second release, topped the Billboard 200 for three weeks and spent a total of 124 weeks across the genre. Since then, Eilish and Finneas have worked together on “What Was I Made For?” as part of it Barbie: The Album; The track is up for a total of six Grammys ahead of the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, including the Song and Record of the Year categories.
