Damn, we can't have anything. First, the Swag Surf and now the fade haircut.
The fans of the barbershop are crazy crazy, and it is understandable, since they have seen the colonization of fade haircut. The hairstyle famously worn by Queensbridge MC NaS and other rappers has become the most popular hair choice for white men trying to be like Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Taylor Swift's dad Travis Kelce.
As with the Taylor Swift Swag Surf incident, Kelce is not directly responsible for what's going on. instead, a news article from the New York Times pisses people off.
In the article, Jeffrey Dugas, a barber at Obsidian Barber in New Brunswick, Canada, says his white clientele rushes to his shop to get the “Travis Kelce cut” because they know he made the hairstyle pop, according to them.
Black people at X collectively rolled their eyes, pointing out that Kelce's haircut is nothing more than a goddamn fade.
“Travis Kelce's haircut isn't a regular fade?? Aren't those more Caucasian people throwing blonde hair at things POC are doing and saying it's new and exciting/trendsetting?' another post on X, officially Twitter, read.
There were white people just as confused. “This is called a buzz cut and it's been a hugely popular hairstyle for men for about… a century,” one post read.
Another noted, “Isn't Travis Kelce's haircut a regular fade?? It's not more Caucasians throwing blonde hair at things POC have done and saying it's new and exciting / trendy.” Bossip References.
We're sure even Travis Kelce rolled his eyes at any posts that implied he made the fade popular or invented the haircut.
