It will be out digitally on October 25 before its physical release on March 14, 2025.
The concert itself took place on September 11 at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms classical music festival and will be broadcast in full on BBC Two and iPlayer on Saturday, October 19. Pre-orders for Symphony of the lungs are in progress.
“I always thought that maybe I would give my first album a long title. Under heaven above hell (“uh oh” for short) was an idea,” Florence Welch said in a statement. “But when I thought about LungsI knew it had to be that. This album is truly an exhale and a sigh: a cacophony of ideas and influences. For things to get so big so fast on a debut album is both a blessing and an unknowable curse. You never know if the record (or the person) will survive.”
And he added: “To be able to come back to it, 15 years and five albums later, and for it to still be so loved is the most extraordinary thing. Reimagining it with Jules Buckley and his orchestra was an act of enormous catharsis.”
Florence + The Machine's most recent album, dance feverwill be released in 2022. Earlier this year, the group covered “White Cliffs of Dover” for Jack Antonoff. The new look soundtrack. Welch also appeared on Taylor Swift's latest album, The Department of Tortured Poetscontributing vocals, piano and percussion on “Florida!!!”
